Length of stay Pretoria has many historically significant locations for the legacy of South Africa so to really experience this a week at least would be sufficient. If one wishes to explore the other locations nearby a little more extensively and get a chance to see some game in the area and do a bit of off road driving, 2 weeks would be a better option with visits to Johannesburg being an optimal way to experience Gauteng province. What to pack Pretoria experiences chilly to cold winters, spring and summer is optimal, with hot dry days. Prepare for the occasional thunderstorm though. You might need a long sleeve shirt or light jacket on colder evenings. So pleased that we did. It is a lovely and well-managed caravan park and we had a quiet spot under a spreading tree. Our site was a little hard to get into and required good reversing skills, but once in, it was great. The facilities were clean and never a queue even though the park was full. Check-in was fast and friendly although we had a little difficulty opening the boom gate with our 'token'.. oops. We managed a dip in the pool which was refreshing and enjoyed our three days here although it was disappointing to learn that we were unable to swim in the Jounama pondage as it looked so inviting across the road. We did check out Talbingo Dam as a possible swimming site but a bit of a windy drive and no great swimming area when you get there. Definitely worth a stop and great location for jaunts out and about although it is necessary to bring all supplies with you as the 'supermarket' has a very limited stock and slow service. … Date of stay: January 2021 Location Service Sleep Quality Sydney, Australia 563 contributions 142 helpful votes We booked a cabin, told it was delux, it was a hot brown box.
