That's why Volunteers of America, for over 123 years, has provided emergency assistance to homeless persons in the form of homeless shelters. Drop-In Centers Since homeless persons can be reluctant to leave the streets and accept emergency shelter or transitional housing, we operate drop-in centers — places where homeless youth or adults can get off the streets and find a temporary safe haven. And often, when homeless persons begin to trust drop-in center staff, they agree to leave the streets and enter transitional or permanent housing. Permanent Supportive Housing For a significant number of homeless Americans with mental or physical impairments, often coupled with drug and/or alcohol use issues, long-term homelessness can only be ended by providing permanent housing coupled with intensive supportive services. Transitional Housing Our transitional housing programs are operated with one goal in mind — to help individuals and families obtain permanent housing as quickly as possible. Our programs serve diverse populations — from women and children who are victims of domestic violence to homeless veterans who have spent years living on the streets.
The accommodation features a spa bath. So many things there that we liked: The checkin and checkout was smooth and easy, no hidden or postponed payments. The first thing we learned that all breakfast was made at the property and served hot, everything was delicious. All amenities were clean and there was daily cleaning at the room, the pool has a few deepness levels. There are two board games on the first floor and some books about the bay shore history. The location is great, close to the fire island ferry 15min walk or 5min car, an awesome Fatfish restaurant and small beach next to it. It was a quiet stay and we met a good people there! In the bathroom we found the cotton rounds and swabs. Orient Inn 2 stars Orient Offering a sun terrace and views of the garden, Orient Inn is situated in Orient. Orient Beach State Park is 4. 5 km away. A flat-screen TV with cable channels, as well as an iPod docking station are provided. Certain rooms have a seating area to relax in after a busy day.

This pretty dash of water less than an hour's drive north from Toronto has been drawing lovers of the outdoors for decades. They come by summer to whiz between the wooded bays on kayaks, to scuba beneath the surface, or to tour the historic locks of the Trent-Severn Waterway.
There are range of activities around the area to experience the natural surroundings (helicopter rides, horse trekking, game drives, bungee jumping). These can be booked through the on-site Adventure Centre. Restaurant with a view… We also had a lovely buffet breakfast each morning which we enjoyed on the sun-deck overlooking the huge spray from the Falls. There was something magical about having breakfast with one of the Natural Wonders of the World only a few hundred metres away. Whilst we didn't get the chance to have a drink there in the evening, the bar area would also be perfect for a sundowner. You'll also find a small plunge pool to cool off in if you fancy (was a bit cold during our visit but no doubt a godsend during the hotter months). There is also a larger swimming pool in the camping area, although this was also too cold to use. A sunset cruise on the Zambezi… To round off our stay, we were so grateful to be treated to a sunset river cruise on Ezra's birthday. The price includes soft drinks and alcohol, plus some lovely barbequed food and salads.
The food I tried based on recommendations from Lonely Planet turned out to be among the most amazing meals of my entire trip. And just flipping through this book during long train rides and such gave me ideas for places to check out that I doubt I would have found otherwise, and they combined to make my trip an incredible, life-changing journey. Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2014 Verified Purchase The kindle version is definitely useable and helpful but there were times when I REALLY considered just buying the paperback. I have never had a kindle version of Lonely Planet which is good, but this one is the worst I've seen. The table of contents is useless. It isn't specific enough to actually help you navigate. In order to find anything specific you either need to have it bookmarked already or use the search function and navigate through all the different times that word was mentioned. It is frustrating because the kindle version of Lonely Planet could be so awesome (compact, inconspicuous, searchable) but they haven't developed it enough.
