In 1888 the Football League was formed but the following year the team split into Middlesbrough and Middlesbrough Ironopolis, and introduced professional football. They tried to amalgamate in 1891 but could not agree on a name or a ground Ironopolis became financially unsound and folded in 1893. Middlesbrough kept its amateur status and continued by winning the Northern League. The club moved to Ayresome Park in 1903. Tim Williamson made his debut at Middlesbrough in 1902 and went on to become Boro's first England International player. Another famous aspect of Linthorpe is found in the history of its pottery which was opened in 1879. It was created out of the old Sun Brick Works, which had been owned by Mr John Harrison. The conversion was created under the guidance of Dr Dresser, an architect and designer. The underlying idea was to bring work to idle hands created by the failing iron trade. The local clay was thought to be extremely suitable for the manufacture of high class products.

2 Kawada Hotel In the heart of downtown L. is the 116-room Kawada Hotel, with restaurants, the metro, bars, and shops within walking distance. Rooms are small and basic, with multicolor polyester bedspreads, and pale wood laminate furniture that blends in with the cream-colored walls and beige carpeting. Each room has a desk and flat-screen TV, and a dated kitchenette with two-burner stovetop, mini-fridge, metal sink, and coffeemaker. The windows are rather small but let in a good amount of light. Overall, though, the dated design is unappealing and unstylish. Additionally, guests complain about loud noise from the nightclub next door. Guests tend to be younger travelers on a budget, who don't mind the decidedly unglamorous vibe of the property. 3 Stay on Main Hotel and Hostel When price is a priority, Stay on Main Hotel and Hostel delivers. Decor in the public spaces is attractive, particularly for the price. The 138-room high-rise offers a variety of accommodations from a single bed in a six-person dorm room to a private room either with either an en-suite or shared bathroom; most have colorful accents and quirky touches.
